My knowledge level is what I refer to as "I know enough to be dangerous".

I made a Datura salve (sample size) from Datura seeds that were gifted to me.  6 week cold infusion and 3 hours on low heat.  I don’t find my infusion to be potent enough for analgesic or inflammation.  Enter Amanita Regalis.  Which I found and dried this summer.  Intension unknown.

So now I’m wondering, can I successfully add the mushroom to my remaining oil and infuse for another 6 weeks?  I think so.  BUT does the Amanita Regalis have the correct properties. ??

I asked this question in The Poisoners Apothecary Discussion Group, they could not tell me.

Also the Amanita Muscaria Science and Magic group.  Not only could they not tell me but they near panicked when I said I was adding it to a Datura infusion.

Thoughts anyone????

I can’t say I have used Datura (Datura stramonium) for pain relive with regards to the seeds, although I know the leaves have been used as a Poultice.

Some modern Herbalists will use the dried leaves of ‘Datura stramonium’ for conditions such as asthma, spastic cough though.

Aztec physicians applied a poultice of datura to the painful and inflamed joints as well. Atropine although I’m not sure if it was ‘Datura metel’ or ‘Datura stramonium’, the pain-relieving chemical in datura, was absorbed through the skin, providing relief as a local anaesthetic. (Atropine is used in some modern topical drugs for arthritis pain.)

I know the Toxins to be aware of will be Atropine, Scopolamine and other anticholinergic alkaloids.

I will do a bit if digging in regards to the Amanita as your right to worry about mixing them both together. (Liam)
