Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
Rheumatoid arthritis is a condition that can cause pain, swelling and stiffness in joints.
It is what is known as an auto-immune condition. This means that the immune system, which is the body’s natural self-defence system, gets confused and starts to attack your body’s healthy tissues. In rheumatoid arthritis, the main way it does this is with inflammation in your joints.
Your recipe has lot of resemblance to my "panther balm" (black cat tiger balm minus the trademark) of which I have made different versions over the years. I started a few years ago with a classical white and red tiger/panther balm with camphor, menthol, eucalyptus, cajeput etc, just with the intent of replacing the petroleum with a plant based oil, usually working with jojoba combined with coconut oil.
Over the years I started experimenting with adding St. John's wort, Arnica montana, cbd and cloves.
A while ago I was making a few litres of ginger shots for an event where I did some catering and after straining the ginger pulp in a cloth i noticed my hands were radiating warmth from the inside through and through. This made me realize the topical potential of ginger and/or galangal and I'm planning to make a new formula using either of them too.
My mom has arthritis and it is worsening. RA is in the family, her dad had it pretty badly.
A few years ago I made her a devil's claw tincture, especially cause her blood pressure is also on the high side, but it did not have the effects she had hoped for.
I have some Russian comfrey plants and last year have placed one in her garden. Yesterday I spoke with her about making a Balm with comfrey for her.
But, in the end, I've come across some cases of RA in the past and I have noticed that when someone is willing to take the effort of changing their dietary habits and lifestyle, this is really the most effective treatment. Cutting the sugars, gluten, alcohol and red meat can really do wonders if someone is only willing to really try.
