Your God +/- My God = Gnosis for some
What are gods really? For some they are personifications of energy currents we as human struggle to fully understand. Many people claim to work and have relationships with 'The Gods' and are able to see, hear, sense, taste and touch them. In my own experience I never tend to approach specific Gods, I do not flip through a book and pick the one I like the look of like take out menu.
Instead I reach into a specific energy current and a figure always eventually emerges. Some use planets as their map of the energetic currents of the universe, others chakras, there are so many different maps and systems of magic and ideas when it comes to energy currents.
For me the dissection of spirits is an important part of students education but the process is not understood by many and rarely talked about. How does one dissect a spirit, an intangible thing, well the process is a bit to complex to share in a simple blog post but one thing which I find people pick up on which changes the way they view deities, is how they can be interchanged with each other depending on the culture of the person your talking to.
Hermanubis is a good example of this, when Romans who know the mercurial spirit as Hermes meet Egyptians who know the Saturnian current (or aspects of it) as Anubis, then they may struggle to assign roles traditionaly assigned to their own god. Could this God Hermanubis be an interesting character to get to know and energetically dissect? What might you find?
I think this is very interesting. Off the top of my head, I’d say to call those energies separately to you and spend some time with each of them, so that each time you do it you get someone you recognize. Now Hermanubis will contain those energies but more. I don’t think it’s as simple as combining two energies, rather allowing them to combine on their own and see how they do that…or better, how does the person of Hermanubis express his own energy, which is a combination but exists independently, with his own personality? And do you recognize that each time you call it?
