Contrary to what the title of this post might suggest, I'm not actually advocating hexing or performing baneful magic on someone you actually want to heal. In reality what I’m talking about is the journey to become more adept in the art of healing magic.
The lesson I have learnt from mentoring those who really want to excel in the art of healing, and who haven’t got a huge amount of experience is that. Even with you spending a hell of a lot of time trying to fine tune their understanding of the situation(s) at play, they will end up making mistakes and really fucking things up.
Everyone makes mistakes, but when it comes to healing and really actually messing around with other people's lives, (people who we like and maybe even love) then we need to tread carefully. All too often we can end up making the situation worse.
I have met many a magical practitioner who wants to specialize in the healing arts (and there not always the woowoo types either) but the one thing that makes a good practitioner is practice and experience. When it comes to medical school and when you train to become a Doctor, you practice on mannequins and cadavers (ok and sometimes animal parts from what I remember from school lol), but when you're learning the magical healing arts then you’ll almost always be practicing on real life people.
Now as a business (Thoth) our mentees often get the opportunity to be guided by us in real client cases, they sometimes learn almost like a tradesperson learns while on an apprenticeship, but for those on a solitary path. What do they do? Do they just have to dive in and hope for the best?
The advice I often give can polarize people. I say stop healing and start cursing lol.
Why do I say this? Well it’s simple, once you get the basics of spell casting and have experience in this then you will start to notice that spells don’t always manifest the way you want them too or the way you expected them too.
The way I used to teach people was to help them develop very accurate psychic ability and then once they can better see the results of their spells manifest then they can alter them in order to make things work out. The problem with this is that it can take certain people a very long time to see and connect all these different outcomes and well, all the psychic stuff can take some serious time to develop in some.
I’ve never met anyone who couldn’t do it in the end (although certain people who are on meds like beta blockers really do struggle) but diagnosing magical conditions is a true art form that requires a fair amount of knowledge of how people, things and the universe works on an energetic level.
There are many systems of magic all over the world which try to break this down and many practitioners will try to ‘TELL YOU HOW IT ALL WORKS’ but in my experience a Witch needs to learn for themselves, see it for themselves, and learn it all through gnosis.
Ok so what about the hexing stuff, how does that factor in lol? Well it’s actually really simple. You Hex people you don’t like and don’t give a shit about, whereas you heal people you do like and do give a shit about. Why not try to open up the old astral bonnet of a person who you think is a bit of a dick and start tinkering. If you manage to do this then bad stuff will manifest and then you can use the person as a little experiment two fold.
For one you can learn more about how people and their souls work by messing about with one and the second is that you have a condition that has manifested in the person which you can now try and fix lol (like how I learned how to fix computers by taking them apart and putting them back together again as a kid lol.)
You might not agree with this approach and it definitely isn’t the only way we teach but what can I say I have loose morals (so i’m told lol) and it doesn’t seem to fast track people lol.
