A number of the people we are mentoring at the moment are starting to go through the stage of attracting the attention of spirits (and sometimes other practitioners) who see the ‘fresh meat’ sign and are attracted to the magical fireworks they are setting off in the astral world.
It is of course the time on a practitioner's journey that they tend to throw themselves into the subject of magical protection past the super beginner level, and it’s always interesting to see how each person deals with the subject.
Some want to fight fire with fire and are the ‘punch the school bully in the face types’, others are the ‘i’m just going to build up my armor’ type. One thing I have noticed about the latest group that we are working with, is that a couple of them are taking this subject and are running with it, some might even say over compensating a bit. Instead of just dealing with the spirits they have decided that that's not enough and that one or two of them have started to build prisons to catch these spirits in. I know of one wonderful man who has even started creating a jar and bind rune based system to catch, contain and then use these spirits as a battery lol.
This got me thinking that hmm maybe I should give this a go. It’s been a while since I've had any spirits try to interfere with my work (I think they learnt a long time ago that it might not work out that well for them lol) and so I am also constructing a magical prison.
The prison itself instead of your traditional Dibbuk style box or jar/bottle, is going to be a book (which you can see as the image for this post), some who are in this group (hiding in the background) may notice it’s the 116 year old spell book that originally belonged to the Percival family, which I use for teaching occasionally (no not the pink one I throw at students lol). It contains many wood engravings and it is those pictures that I'm going to start binding / putting spirits in.
I will of course carry on using this book for consultations, but will be interested to see how some of the more psychic clients we have react to the images lol.

Things I had to figure out the hard way when it came to trapping spirits in books of power that I was still also using for divination and council . I had to eventually create external physical bindings on the book itself . For smaller things it wasn’t an issue . But for actual problems ..bigger entities in their entirety I noticed leakage began to occur . I just had to figure out how to limit it (using dagaz) to a specific -in my case -saga.
